Hypnotherapy

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a focusing of the mind. It is a state of relaxation and concentration, very
similar to a daydream state. It is pleasant and very relaxing.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis in order to help overcome a wide range of emotional, physical and psychological disorders.

Whilst in a hypnotic state a number of therapeutic techniques can be used to help the client. As each person is individual and unique my approach is very client-centred: the technique is adapted to suit the client, not the client to suit the therapy.

The Consultation

A case history is taken prior to treatment and progress is reviewed at subsequent sessions. Hypnotherapy treatment usually takes 30 minutes, though at least an hour should be allowed. Client confidentiality is of utmost importance and no information is divulged, even to close relatives.

The Therapies

Suggestion Therapy : is used for simpler problems such as

This is what most people expect when they come to see a Hypnotherapist and it works well for many people.

Suggestion therapy works by reprogramming any negative ideas or thoughts and replaces them with new, positive ones. Provided the subconscious mind accepts the new ideas, you will act upon them immediately. Hypnotic suggestion is a very powerful tool for changing unconscious behaviours that you are ready to let go of.

A successful outcome can be achieved in 1-3 sessions, perhaps with a booster session at a later date.

Advanced Hypnotherapeutic Techniques

  • Five Path ® or Five Phase Abreactive Therapeutic Hypnosis is a powerful, 5 phase approach using Advanced Hypnotherapeutic Techniques. It is used to help a wide range of problems, including habits, addictions, compulsions, fears, mood problems poor self-esteem and lack of confidence.
  • Phase One : Introduces hypnosis to increase confidence and build self-esteem.
  • Phase Two : The removal of old, erroneous fears and beliefs that keep you from succeeding. This serves to uncover and resolve the cause of the problem, not just deal with the symptoms.
  • Phase Three : Uncover and remove erroneous anger which allows for healing and change. Habitual, addictive and compulsive behaviours are motivated by emotion, they are ways of coping with emotional pain. When anger and guilt are sufficiently resolved the emotion dissipates and gives release from the problem.
  • Phase Four : The removal of erroneous guilt and anger, particularly directed towards the self. This helps neutralise these negative emotions for a complete release of symptoms. This Phase also helps to increase self-esteem, confidence and motivation.
  • Phase Five : In order to overcome internal confict the issue of secondary gain is dealt with. This phase is only required in about 15% of cases, notably when dealing with alcohol and drug related problems.

Please refer to my pricing page for treatment costs. Many problems can be resolved in 2 or 3 sessions and it may not be necesarry to complete the whole process. Panic attacks and phobias respond particularly well to a reduced number of sessions.

Hypnotherapy for Children : Does your child have a fear, a worry or become troubled by something which seems to have no apparent cause? Does your child have an unusual habit or behave in a strange way that seems to have no apparent explanation? Or are you just concerned that your child in not as happy as they could be and wish that there was something you could do about it?

Hypnotherapy is very effective at treating a wide range of childrens problems including:

  • phobias
  • irrational fears
  • anxiety
  • lack of confidence
  • low self esteem
  • bed-wetting

In just a few sessions problems simply disappear and everyone can get on with life again.

The techniques help your child to resolve inner worries which may seem unimportant to an adult but can be overwhelming for a child. In some cases there is no need for the problem to be discussed.

Procedures are non-invasive, non-intrusive and completely safe. Children have very vivid imaginations, which can sometimes contribute to their problem. However, hypnotherapy can utilise their wonderful imaginations and put them to good use in effecting a positive outcome. Children are excellent hypnotic subjects and usually only a very light state is required.

A degree of concentration is required so the minimum age limit is about 8 years. Older children can also benefit and I would use these techniques up to the age of 16 or 17. A parent of guardian must be present at all times.

Normally between 1 and 3 sessions are required. each session is about 1 hour, although the actual hypnosis section is about 20-25 minutes. all sessions take place at Woodfield and can be arranged around school hours.

Please be reassured that I am fully CRB checked and I will gladly provide the relevant documentation to reassure you, upon request.

All approaches will be fully discussed and agreed upon before they are utilised.
